Covergirl

I recently saw the Americas Next Top Model (ANTM) show and saw Whitney telling the models that the new Covergirl lipgloss really mady your teeth whiter and your breath mintier. Now, an obsessive consumer wou have believed this but of course being the smarty I am I decided to go with my perfect explination. There is branding all over TV shows, especially ANTM where inevery photo shoot the models are selling you the garment they are wearing. This is like when Mr. Jay does a brief yet descriptive explitation of what the product does and how this "insert brand name" product can change your life.

The Makeup Magnet

Are you the silver attraction to the makeup magnet? Do you need the m.a.c. paint pot just to do one look for a party to match one dress you probably will never wear again? Do you have the trouble staying away from the new lash blast because the old one just wasn't good enough? Well I have an explanation. Commercials are now more magnetic than ever. In this economy can we really afford not to make money? Well, the people making those commercials and selling those products to you need money also and must be more tempting. Revelon is a fine brand, but when it has to compete with the luster lipstick from m.a.c. it is bound to loose. The makeup addict is normally a compulsive buyer and will listen to the reason for why you need to spend $30.00 on a lipstick. The reason in your mind is, 1. It's m.a.c. come on! 2. It has a longer wear time and moisturizes your lips while giving you SPF 10 protection. 3. It is the perfect color 4. It is from the m.a.c counter, nothing cooler! Now your reason to buy a perfectly normal Revelon lipstick is, 1. Perfect color! 2. Well, it only gives you SPF 8 protection 3. Ewwww! It's from a drug store. 4. It's Revelon, not in what so ever. So next time think about the makeup magnet and how it is so great to own a m.a.c. lipstick, I mean come on I love m.a.c. but still think about the false reasons to buy and how you are truly stronger that the makeup magnet and do not need to buy the "more appreciated" brand.

The Ugg boot

What is that need for brands? For example, that compelling attraction to the Ugg boot, not the style but the fact that there is a visible tag sewn into the real, hardy leather. Trust me, I have worn almost every Ugg imitation possible and you just don't feel confident wearing that flimsy boot with out the confident boosting tag the whole world can see. My mother constantly probes me, asking me if a want a perfectly normal boot that looks just like and Ugg boot and is much cheaper but just doesn't seem to please me. If you feel the same way I feel about brands and how you have that craving to buy something that could be as small as a penny, costs $2,000 and you need it and can't have anything that is identical to it but is not the same brand. Let me know your craving for brands, if you are obsessive and need immediate help.
